The Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club competed in this event with a strong team of 53 athletes. Described as an event for everyone, the BC Elementary School Track & Field Championships is an event hosted by the Kajaks Track & Field Club with the purpose of providing a fun and safe competitive experience for athletes of all ages and abilities.
The weekend welcomed all elementary school aged athletes whether they were new or experienced to the sport of Track & Field, representing a school, club or independent. Overall the Mustangs earned 10 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals. The 10 year old boys had an impressive 2nd place overall finish and the 13 year old girls placed 4th! Ben Vanerhorst, Noah Louwerse, Joey Adams and Jacob Vanderhorst were multi event medalists and Maiya Brunoro had an outstanding performance earning 4 gold medals in 4 individual events including 200m, 300m, 800m, and Long Jump! Watching these athletes make running, jumping and throwing look effortless is inspirational. The Langley Mustangs will host the Pacific Invitational on Father’s Day weekend June 14th, 15th and 16th at McLeod Athletic Park. Athletes from ages 6 to 86 will be participating in a variety of track and field events throughout the weekend.
