MADISON, Wis. – After posting this year's top pentathlon score in the Big Ten Conference, Wisconsin women's track and field athlete Georgia Ellenwood was named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
The junior won the pentathlon at the Black and Gold Premier with a score of 4,104 points, which leads the Big Ten and ranks sixth in the country.
Ellenwood enjoyed a consistent performance through the five-discipline event, finishing in the top-three in every event while posting the competition's top marks in both the high jump and shot put.
This marks the second time in her career that Ellenwood has earned indoor weekly honors from the conference.
A two-time first-team All-American in the pentathlon, Ellenwood owns the UW school record of 4,392 and represented Canada in the event at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Ellenwood and the Badgers head to the Big Apple to compete at the Amory Track Invitational this weekend. The Langley, British Columbia, native is set to compete in the 60-meter hurdles.
