He essentially had tunnel vision after many surgeries and glaucoma at age 11, his periphery whittled away by eye disease.
Part of a basketball-loving family, a doctor made a suggestion to Dolfo when he was still very young.
“I was just there for an eye appointment and he said, ‘Have you ever considered paralympics?’ ” Dolfo recalled on Thursday night after running a 100-metre dash in 11.33 seconds in a preliminary event at the Canadian track and field championships at Foote Field.
“I had no idea about it.”
Now 21, Dolfo is looking to make his second trip to the Paralympic Games...."
